plate, put the rubber lid over it, and give a soft pop to the
top. The corrugated metal fitting on the inside of the socket
is the real stroke of genius; you just don’t need to hit it
very hard. A rubber coating on the bottom prevents the
nutcracker from slipping while it protects surfaces from
scratches.
